The deadline to apply for the FRINGE - Barcelona 2004 is still open

Next Friday 30th of January is the last day to apply for the FRINGE - Barcelona, so all the soloist and ensembles that want to take part in this event are still able to submit their applications.

The FRINGE - Barcelona 2004, which will be celebrated on the 17th and 18th of April, has consolidated its position as one of the most interesting and fresh events of the Festival de Música Antigua de Barcelona, an event that this year celebrates its 37th edition. This event is one of the best shop-windows of the Spanish early music circuit, and it attracts a relevant number of young musicians that want to show publically their works and talent.

The Gothic District of Barcelona is full of music the two days the FRINGE lasts. All through the weekend when the FRINGE is organized, many musicians from different countries gather together in Barcelona, and the communication among musicians, early music lovers, journalists and concert organizers is direct and fluent. This year the organization will select eight ensembles to participate in the FRINGE, and each one will be allowed to perform three concerts all through the weekend .

Participants must perform with original period instruments or following the historic performance rules. The ensembles must be formed by a minimum number of two musicians, and a maximum of nine. Soloists are not accepted in the FRINGE. The participants must have been born after 31.12.1969, and the ensembles that were selected in precedent editions of the FRINGE can not participate again in any further edition. The organization provides the apropiate locations to perform outdoors; includes the FRINGE performances in the official programme of the festival; announces the concerts; invites the critics and agents and pays for the accomodation and the journey to Barcelona if the ensemble comes from any european country.

The selection of ensembles that will take part in this year's edition will be announced the 11th of February.
